Boattrip: history of the "Rivierengebied": from Tiel to Heerewaarden

Experience the history of the "Rivierengebied", the area where the big rivers Lek, Nederrijn, Waal, Merwede and Maas defined the landscape.
Experience a mini cruise through the landscape of the river Waal, but also experience the history. Visit the Dikke Toren van Varik and history. Experience the contemporary feeling of being spoilt with an delicious appetizer at Het Veerhuis.
After boarding the yacht we continue our trip in the direction of the sea we quit the river Waal near Sint Andries, where a big lock connects the river Waal and the river Maas.
After passing the lock we continue the trip on the river Maas, and head for the village Heerewaarden. We pay a visit to the Bezoekerscentrum Grote Rivieren, a centre to inform visitors regarding history and developments on the "Rivierengebied".
A mini van or a taxi takes to back to the location of the boarding in the city Tiel.
The program of this boattrip:
13:00 hrs Boarding, get acquainted, enjoy coffee tea and pastry, followed by a palaver, short instruction about safety and do and don'ts on board of the yacht
13:30 leaving the marina of Tiel on our way to Varik
14:00 arrival in Varik. Visit to the "Dikke Toren van Varik" (Big Tower, but with the emphasis on the unusual measures of the tower)
14:30 Appetizer in Het Veerhuis
15:00 Departure for Sint Andries, passing the locker between the river Waal and the river Maas, and continuation of thr trip to Heerewaarden.
16:00 Arrival in the marina of Heerewaarden and pay a visit to the Bezoekerscentrum Grote Rivieren.
17:00 Say goodbye to the crew, and taken back to the marina of Tiel to return to your car or train.

Candles as a model of the Dikke Toren
Jan de Crom, one of the volunteers of the Big Tower, created unique candles in the model of the tower. Each guest receives a candle at the end of the mini cruise as a warm remembrance to this very intimate and nice tour. Several colours available.
