Mini cruise Rijk van Nijmegen: Ravenstein - Grave - Mook - Weurt - Nijmegen
Making a boat trip in the area surrounding Nijmegen is getting acquainted with a variety of attractions. Some are known, others not. But always interesting.
Nijmegen thanks her development to the strategic position on the borders of the river Waal, on a height overseeing a big part of the river. In historical days the Romans had a bridge near Cevelum (now called Cuijk) which led directly to Nijmegen. During the trip we will see some these particular points of interest.
The area invested a lot of money to reconstruct the city centers of Ravenstein, Grave and Nijmegen. The waterways through this landscape form an ultimate yachting area to visit the various cities and villages.
Also an excursion to the famous Mokerheide is part of the program.
The program of this Mini cruise:
09:45 Reception with coffee, tea and pastry in the marina of Ravenstein. Ravenstein can be reached easily by car and train. You make acquaintance withe the crew of the yacht who is at your service during the mini cruise.
10:15 Departure in the direction of the city Grave.
12:00 After passage of the locker of Grave we moor near the historical center of Grave. A guide will give you a guided tour through the historical center of Grave
13:00 lunch in the hospitable ambiance of restaurant Colori in Grave
14:30 departure for the village Mook. In Mook we organise an interesting short trip to the famous Mokerheide.
15:30 departure for the route to Nijmegen. The first part of this trip is on the relative quiet water of the river Maas and the Maas Waal canal. During this part of the mini cruise we will serve you a nice Italian aperitivo. After passage of the locker near Weurt, close to Nijmegen, you experience a trip of half an hour on the river Waal, the biggest and most busy river in Europe. You will experience big freight barges and the dynamics thereof.
17:30 Disambarkment in the marina of Nijmegen. A mini van or taxi takes you back to the location of embarkment in Ravenstein.
